About Me
I’m Shore Harada, a photographer based in Whangamata, New Zealand.
My work began with a simple curiosity: Why do some places stay with us long after we’ve left them?
Whether I’m walking a beach at sunrise, sitting outside a Cafe in Tokyo, or watching surfers check the waves in Chiba, I’m less interested in documenting where I am than understanding how a place feels. The quiet moments, changing light, familiar routines and overlooked details are often what I remember most.
Photography has become my way of slowing down. It encourages me to notice the things that are easy to miss; the spaces between destinations, the conversations after a surf, the light through the sea mist, or the feeling of arriving somewhere that unexpectedly feels like home.
Many of the photographs on this website are part of longer projects rather than individual images. I enjoy building collections that explore a place over time, letting atmosphere and everyday moments tell the story rather than relying on a single photograph.
When I’m not behind a camera, you’ll usually find me surfing, travelling, cooking or planning my next journey. Those experiences continue to shape the way I see and photograph the world.
Thanks for stopping by!
